From 24 October to 22 November 2026, visitors to Antwerp will have a unique opportunity to explore the history and future of space travel. The Space Walk is a free city walk taking in eleven locations where iconic space artefacts, scientific discoveries and technological innovations take centre stage. Flanders Space is supporting this initiative, which brings space travel closer to the general public.
A journey of discovery from Sputnik to Mars
During a walk of approximately 4.5 kilometres, visitors will discover nearly seventy years of space history. From the launch of Sputnik in 1957 and the first manned space missions to the moon landings, the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station and the future exploration of Mars.
Belgium’s contribution to space exploration is also given a special place. Think of the work of our astronauts, scientists, engineers and companies that play a key role in international space programmes.
The walk combines historical objects and installations with interactive elements. Using QR codes, visitors can listen to the stories told by Lieven Scheire, whilst an interactive treasure hunt invites young and old alike to test their knowledge of space exploration.

Inspiring and connecting
For Flanders Space, supporting The Space Walk is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the social and technological significance of space exploration.
After all, the space sector is much more than just rockets and satellites. It is a sector where scientific research, technological innovation and international cooperation come together and contribute to solutions that are also of great importance here on Earth.
By presenting space in an accessible and engaging way, The Space Walk aims to stimulate curiosity and inspire new generations to explore science, technology and innovation.
This is an ambition that Flanders Space, as the representative of the Flemish space industry, fully supports.
